Entrepreneur and visionary Olivier Lejade commissioned Studio Saxe to create the first LEED Certified single family home outside of the USA. He wanted a house that would serve as an example of true integration between a new-build property and its natural surroundings. The building had to respond to its specific location while remaining energy efficient.

Our solution was to create a series of enclosed terraces that merge nature with living spaces. By removing any hard edges from the structure we have created a home that is more landscape than building. Fluid curves blend one part of the house into the next, allowing for constant changes which respond to the variables of the site. Plant life is integrated into the fundamental design of the property, challenging notions of how long the building has rested in its natural context. This contemporary carbon neutral project is imbued with a timeless elegance that is achieved by respecting the power of the natural world.
